Next year begins a new decade: the third decade in which this little literary journal has existed. The year will be 2020 and that is a fitting number for our 20th edition. We launch a new issue of Beatdom every year in the month of May, and next year will be no different. We will be open to submissions of the following sort:
- Essays
- Interviews
- Reviews
- Poetry
- Art
Alas, we will not be seeking short stories this time around. There will also be no theme to this issue, as in previous years it has become rather limiting. We are thus looking for any of the above three types of writing related to the Beat Generation.
Anyone unfamiliar with the journal can find it on Amazon or look at the archives on this website to see what sort of things we usually publish. General submission guidelines can be found here.
As always, please send submissions, queries, or inquiries to editor [at] beatdom (dot) com. We will be reading submissions until March 1st.

Would you be interested in a review of Gerald Nicosia’s new book, ‘Kerouac: The Last Quarter Century’ (Noodlebrain Press, 2019)? If so, what would be a good length? FYI, I’m the author of ‘The Ultimate, Illustrated Beats Chronology’ (Soft Skull Press, 2011).
Hi Robert,
Yes, certainly. We have no particular limits on word count but usually our reviews are 700-1000 words. You can e-mail me at editor [at] beatdom (dot) com.
