In 2007, with the creation of Beatdom literary journal, the editors formed a company called Mauling Press. A little later, we changed its name to City of Recovery Press (CoRP) and expanded from publishing Beatdom to become a general publishing company. In 2010 we became Beatdom Books and began a semi-regular publishing schedule. At present, we aim to publish one book and one edition fo the journal per year.

For more than a decade, we have published books about the Beat Generation, which can be found as paperbacks or Amazon Kindle editions here. They are also available through other retailers, including Water Row Books. We have a Bookshop listing here.

Whilst some of our books are now out of print, most are still available and we continue to publish works that shed new light on Beat literature and related countercultural movements.

Some of our books.

We aim to publish books that are what we term “semi-academic.” This means that they are typically areas of academic interest but written in accessible ways and published at prices that make them available to the general public. We see no benefit in making Beat Studies an exclusionary field. To further the Beat legacy, we will continue to publish high-quality books at competitive prices, written in a style that is enjoyable yet informative.

Submissions

We are looking for books about the lives and work of Beat Generation artists. No fiction or poetry. Sorry, but it is too hard for us to promote these and we focus now exclusively on non-fiction Beat Studies work that we can promote more effectively. If you have a manuscript that sounds like it would be a nice addition to the above list, please get in touch.
