Last Call

Alright folks, time’s up. Time gentleman, please. Last orders. Get ‘em in.

Issue Nine’s deadline is up today. If you need an extensive, please let me know as soon as possible and we’ll arrange something.

Just a reminder to those who’ve forgotten: Beatdom’s ninth issue is about DRUGS. That doesn’t mean we want HST rip-offs or any other kind of rip-off for that matter. We want something a little more innovative. Mostly we’re devoting space to interesting essays about drugs and literature, but we also have the usual set aside for short stories and poems.

So please please please. If you need more time, let me know. Otherwise, get your submissions sent to editor [at] beatdom [dot] com today.

    • It’s really terribly sad. Some people’s brains just don’t work.

      • I think the problem might be over-generalizations from the word “drugs.” Most people assume it refers to Schedule I substances in the U.S. classification system: cocaine, heroin, marijuana, LSD, psilocybin, etc. But one of the most important drugs to the development of the “Beat Generation” was a pharmaceutical: Benzedrine. That doesn’t inspire the same backlash, even though it destroyed the people more than any illegal drugs.

        • I just wanted to leave it open to interpretation. Like with the SEX issue. Sex means gender, fucking, whatever… And we got some great, creative essays.

  2. every country has a different social set up and rules, in India, weed is used for worshiping a Hindu Deity, its openly used and appreciated..depends how one uses drugs and for what purposes..hopefully if my paper is selected for the 9th issue, one would see a totally different implication of drug usage in India..

    • I still haven’t had a chance to read it, but I do look forward to it. I’m vaguely aware that there’s a huge difference in cultural perception of marijuana in India and I want to learn more.

      • you are right, there is a lot of difference, I feel the west has always exploited and overused resources….it believes in excess, while the ancient Hindu religious practices asserts on control and enlightenment..
